Coursework in CBU's online M.A. in Strategic Communication will equip students with the tools to examine the role of communication in all areas of life while challenging them to integrate biblical thought within contemporary cultural concepts. Students will develop communication programs and campaigns for work in strategic communication, public relations and media.

Program Details

Consistent with the university student outcomes, upon completion of the Master of Arts in Strategic Communication degree, graduates will be able to:

  1. Evaluate various theoretical components of communication to understand communication phenomena and behaviors.
  2. Apply philosophical and theoretical components of ethics to the legal, ethical and social foundations of communication from a Christian perspective.
  3. Explain and analyze strategic communication management processes, methods, and theories to create comprehensive communication programs.
  4. Utilize communication research to determine how theoretical approaches of communication influence human interaction, society and communication phenomena.
  5. Analyze and explain the influence of media effects on human behavior and communication phenomena.

COM 520: Communication Management, Leadership and Decision Making

Explores the communication management process for the private, public and non-profit sectors to develop and analyze messages used in the processes of leadership, including motivation, inspiration and decision making.

COM 555: Digital Trends in Strategic Communication

This course will examine the shift from print to digital media as an ever-evolving phenomenon. Examines the impact of new communication technologies, changed political mobilization, and social networks.

COM 580: Social Influence and Persuasion

Examines persuasion from a variety of perspectives and considers how the target, the techniques, the source, the message, and the channel of communication all interplay in persuasion and influence.
