Applied Mathematics, M.S.
CBU's M.S. in Applied Mathematics program integrates a faith-based perspective into a foundation of mathematical theory and concepts.
Program Intro
Innovation through mathematical problem solving is needed in every field imaginable. CBU’s M.S. in Applied Mathematics curriculum is designed to help students identify challenging real-world problems in virtually any field, formulate a mathematical model that effectively addresses the problems and use models to obtain real-world solutions.

Why Earn Your M.S. in Applied Mathematics at CBU?
Integrate a Christian worldview
CBU's M.S. in Applied Mathematics program integrates a faith-based perspective into a foundation of mathematical theory and concepts. Students will learn to seek solutions to world problems that are ingrained in a Christian-framed compassion for a world in desperate need for Christ.
Research and present findings
Students will be able to communicate the results of their research and application through reports and presentations. With these skills, graduates will be able to significantly contribute to a competitive work force or pursue a PhD program in applied mathematics or a related field.
What You'll Learn
- Students will demonstrate their ability to solve industry-related problems, to apply curriculum mathematics and curriculum knowledge in other fields, and to develop effective models of real-world phenomena in the context of solving real-world problems.
- Students will demonstrate their ability to complete a project in a team or group setting.
- Students will demonstrate the ability to recognize when scientific or numerical computation is necessary to solve a problem and the ability to perform such computations using modern tools such as MATLAB, R, FORTRAN, Sage, etc.
- Students will demonstrate the ability to read, interpret, critically analyze and discuss scientific papers/articles from peer-reviewed journals.
- Students will demonstrate the ability to disseminate critically reasoned results from course or research projects via oral and written communication in the form of reports, papers and presentations.
