Welcome to the Department of Public Health Sciences!

Our faculty is committed to education, research, and service in the areas of public health, nutrition sciences, health science (pre-med, pre-PA, pre-pharm) and healthcare administration. Our faculty are focused on preparing students to be research based, practice ready and Christ focused.

About Us

Our bachelor degree programs are rigorous, requiring students to focus on their academic preparation for graduate school or for immediate employment. Our graduates are employed in hospitals, businesses and governmental agencies at the local, state and national levels. Additionally, many of our alumni have gone on to medical school, physician assistant programs, and master's or doctoral programs in public health, health care management, dietetics and other health professions.

Our master's programs prepare students to be practitioners in public health or healthcare management. Our Master of Public Health (MPH) trains future public health professionals to strategically plan, implement and evaluate evidence-based health promotion solutions that improve health and well-being. Students with a background in kinesiology, biology, psychology or other behavioral sciences, combined with graduate training in public health at CBU, are able to make important contributions to the prevention and intervention of diseases and disorders.

We offer many extracurricular opportunities including internships, workshops, global mission trips, and various student clubs including the Nutrition and Food Science Club, the Public Health Club, the American Medical Women’s Association, and Eta Sigma Gamma, the National Health Education Honorary Society. Additionally, there are many opportunities for students to pursue research projects—either independently or as a research assistant for a faculty member.

We urge you to explore our academic programs, various student organizations, and the many opportunities to be involved in research projects, internships and global mission trips. We have a vibrant department with outstanding faculty, dedicated staff and students who want to make a difference in the lives of others.
