Safety 101

(must be completed to use the climbing wall)

Monday - Thursday: 6pm - 10pm

Thursday & Friday: 6am - 10am                  

Safety 101 is a safety class designed to equip the climbers with all the safety skills required to pass the climbing wall Top-Rope Safety (Belay) Test. All equipment is provided. Class is limited to six participants and will take about 30 to 45 minutes. Class and test will be offered throughout the summer. Please stop by the Climbing Wall, as the class is offered on a "first come, first serve" basis.





Technique is a free, unlimited, one-on-one personalized training course to assist climbers of any level. Technique is instructed by our experienced Lead Climbing Attendants. Participants will learn and practice different climbing methods, which will help improve their climbing and bouldering skills such as: footwork, route climbing, controlled power, bouldering and movements to improve the sequencing through a route or problem. Those interested can sign-up at the Rec Center reception desk. 



Boulder Bash

Date: October 20  (Sign-ups start Oct 13)

Time: 6-9pm

This event is a climbing competition for all levels of climbers; students will be faced with new problems on the bouldering area as well as a chance to build community with other climbers at CBU.  This event is open to the first 30 people, so first come first served.

Top Rope Twister


Date: Sept 13

Time: 6-9pm

Re-enter your past with a game of Top Rope Twister.  Similar to a game of traditional twister, players will spin and hope the colors they land on help them reach the top of the Rock Wall. This is a game of physical skill and a little chance.  No sign-up needed, just drop in!

Stretch Clinic For Climbers

Date: Sept 14, Oct 12, Nov 9 & Dec 7

Time: 8-9pm

Learn the basic poses that will specifically target muscles involved in climbing and improve your climbing technique.  This class will increase your flexibility and core strength. Our emphasis is building awareness of breath and body.  This class is recommended for all levels of fitness.
