CBU California Teacher Performance Assessment (CalTPA) Home Page

Senate Bill 2042 (Chapter 548, Statutes of 1998), signed by the governor in 1998, requires all multiple and single subject preliminary credential candidates in California to pass a Teaching Performance Assessment. In response to the legislation, the Metcalf School of Education chose to implement the California Teaching Performance Assessment (CalTPA) which requires a sequential completion of four (4) tasks:

•Subject Specific Pedagogy

•Designing Instruction

•Assessing Learning

•Culminating Teaching Event

All CBU teacher candidates must take and pass the CalTPA in order to be recommended for a Preliminary Teaching Credential. After receiving the Preliminary Credential, and upon employment within a California classroom, your CalTPA scores will assist you in completing an approved induction program leading to a Professional Clear Credential.

Information on each of these tasks is provided in individual folders on Blackboard. All tasks are submitted through  Blackboard submission instructions can be found on there under "Submission Requirements."
