Millie is a young bride living in the 1850s Oregon wilderness whose plan to civilize and marry off her six rowdy brothers-in-law to ensure the success of her own marriage backfires when the brothers, in their enthusiasm, kidnap six women from a neighboring town to be their brides. Bursting with the rambunctious energy of the original film, “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers” is all boisterous fun and romance that harkens back to the glory days of the movie musical. This farcical comedy revolves around Mortimer Brewster, nephew of two spinsters aunts who are adored in their community for the acts of charity. Mortimer pays them a visit, only to discover that one of their "acts of charity" is relieving lonely old men of a tedious existence. Complicating matters are Mortimer's two brothers, one of whom believes he is Teddy Roosevelt and another who returns home after having just escaped from a mental institution. Add on Mortimer's engagement to a minister's daughter who lives next door and mayhem ensues as he attempts to do the right thing while ensuring that his family is properly cared for. Arsenic and Old Lace is a perennial favorite, perhaps made most popular by the 1944 Warner Bros. film starring Cary Grant.
