About RN to BSN Program
A Recognized Degree For Licensed Nurses
Developed specifically for working registered nurses currently licensed in the U.S., the RN to BSN degree-completion program at California Baptist University (CBU) prepares nursing professionals to advance their proficiency, prepare for further specialization, and position themselves for career mobility and leadership within the high-demand field of nursing, while completing a Bachelor of Sciences Degree in Nursing. Designed for the adult learner, CBU’s RN to BSN program emphasizes commitment, flexibility, convenience and relevance for nurses who seek to complete their degrees while expanding their professional knowledge and value.
Human Science Perspective
A values-based baccalaureate nursing program, CBU’s RN to BSN emphasizes the human science of nursing that recognizes and respects every individual’s right to define quality of life for themselves. In the tradition of CBU’s Christian-based mission, the RN to BSN program concentrates on whole-person care, in which the nurse-patient relationship plays a key role. Integrated into the coursework is the Humanbecoming Theory that allows students to model the practice of nursing from a humanbecoming perspective that reflects their personal goals and vision.
Concentrated Curriculum
CBU’s RN to BSN program allows licensed registered nurses the opportunity to complete upper-level courses in an accelerated 38-unit nursing core and general education curriculum that can typically be completed in 18 months. The convenient rotational format of the classes allows students to begin and finish the program as it best suits the varying needs and schedules of working nurses. Students also have the flexibility of CBU’s broad-based Liberal Arts education, designed around core nursing courses, making it easier to fulfill requirements needed for graduation.
Recognizing Your Experience
Designed to follow a cohort model, CBU’s RN to BSN offers small class sizes that bring together 20 or fewer students who progress through the program together. While students come from diverse backgrounds, they share many common experiences, perspectives and a high level of commitment as working nurses. The program recognizes this work experience, and integrates it into the classroom and coursework. As a result, classes are dynamic, interactive and interpersonal environments in which students learn from one another as well as from their instructors. Nurses come away from classes with concepts and new nursing knowledge they can immediately apply to their practice settings.
Relevant Practicum Experience
Recognizing the professional obligations and busy schedules of working nurses, CBU’s RN to BSN program offers a flexible practicum experience that introduces nurses to a range of settings outside their current areas of practice, and that can often lead to new professional opportunities. The program carefully matches each student to the practicum experience that best suits individual needs, lifestyles, interests and goals.
Professional Opportunities
RNs who complete their BSN at CBU fortify their value as professionals as well as their knowledge of nursing practice. The close-knit, interactive nature of the classes attended by working professionals often result in networking and new career opportunities for students interested in transitioning to leadership opportunities and graduate nursing education.
