California Baptist University Hosts Federal Reserve Day
Riverside, CA—California Baptist University (CBU) is set to host the top three economists from the San Francisco branch of the Federal Reserve Bank for a discussion on how the bank sets the nation’s monetary policy. The November 30 event is being held at the Wallace Theatre on the main campus at CBU in Riverside at 8432 Magnolia Avenue, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is open to the public without charge.
“This event promises to provide information to anyone working in the finance world with information that will assist with sound financial planning,” Dr. Darrell Passwater, dean of the School of Business at California Baptist University, said. “Those who understand the variables that effect federal monetary policy have a better chance to be in front of change as opposed to reacting to change.”
The Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco is one of twelve regional Federal Reserve Banks across the U.S. that, together with the Board of Governors in Washington, D.C., serve as our nation's central bank.
The Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco provides wholesale banking services to financial institutions in the nine western states through its head office in San Francisco, branch offices in Los Angeles, Portland, Salt Lake City, and Seattle, and a cash processing office in Phoenix. As the nation's central bank, the Federal Reserve System formulates monetary policy, serves as a bank regulator, administers consumer protection laws, and is fiscal agent for the U.S. government. The Twelfth District is the largest in the Federal Reserve System, encompassing 36 percent of the nation's land area, and 20 percent of its population, employment, and the nation's personal income.
