1. What are the program’s entry dates and application deadline?

The MBA offers a rolling admission policy, and accepts students for the Fall (September), Spring (January) or Summer (May) semesters.

Students are strongly encouraged to have their application files, including all needed documentation, completed at least two months prior to the start of the semester.

2. How long does the admission process take?

Once an application file is complete, applicants will typically be notified of a decision within 7-10 business days

3. What are the pre-requisites?

Pre-requisites for entering the MBA program are Business Law, Microeconomics or Macroeconomics, Principles of Accounting I and II, Statistics or Quantitative Analysis, Computer Spreadsheets and Word Processing, Management, and Marketing. Applicants may have the opportunity to substitute relevant work experience for pre-requisites.

4. What is the GPA requirement?

Candidates must have a minimum 2.75 GPA for admission; however, applicants with a lower GPA may be considered for admission with submission of a current Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) score.

5. Is the GMAT required?

The Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) is required for applicants with a baccalaureate GPA below 3.25. 

6. Is your MBA program accredited?

Yes.  CBU’s MBA program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). 

7. How long does the program take?

The length of the program may vary for each student. Students may typically take four semesters, or 15 months, to finish the 36 unit program. The Alumni program can be completed in as little as 12 months. (see question number 11).

8. When do classes meet?

The MBA is designed to accommodate the busy schedules of working professionals.  The 36 unit program is considered a weekend program, with classes typically scheduled on every other Friday evenings and all day Saturday.  The 30 unit Alumni program is typically scheduled on Tuesday evenings and one Saturday every five or six weeks.

9. What concentrations does the MBA offer?

There are no concentrations offered, as the MBA is designed to prepare people for higher levels of leadership and management regardless of their chosen field of work.

10. Am I required to have work experience to enter the program?

No. However, CBU’s MBA program is designed for the working professional looking to advance professionally.

11. How does the Alumni MBA option work?

Graduates of CBU’s bachelor degree programs in business, accounting or marketing  may apply undergraduate coursework and learning toward their MBA, to earn their degree in 30 units instead of the standard 36 units. The 30-unit Alumni MBA program consists of eight courses carefully selected from the standard MBA curriculum, taken in any sequence, plus a career practicum

Graduates interested in the Alumni MBA must meet certain academic criteria, including a minimum 2.75 GPA and a CBU bachelor degree.

12. Why is the MBA in Accounting only 30 units?

The MBA in Accounting is only 30 units because it is designed primarily for people desiring CPA licensure.  Keeping the program to only 30 units allows students to achieve their licensing requirement of 150 semester hours on a rapid timetable while working full time.
