Journalism at California Baptist University offers students an incredible opportunity to perfect skills in areas of writing, editing, photojournalism and design. Courses are also offered in public relations and magazine writing. Students enrolled in Newspaper and Yearbook Production work as a team to create "The Banner" newspaper and "The Angelos" yearbook. These publications have a rich history as they have been printed since the 1950's. Being on staff provides an incredible opportunity for students to perfect their craft and have work published.
Internships enrich the learning experience and are offered through local business, newspapers and television stations and through The Washington Journalism Center. Students interested in politics can apply for the D.C. internship and spend a semester on Capitol Hill. Student editors and writers attend national conventions in Nashville, New York and D.C. where they compete against other universities; both publications have received awards.
Our experienced facilty work to help students build impressive portfolios full of published work and to teach them to network and collaborate to find a career and position that is a good fit.
Please feel free to set up an appointment to observe our classes for the day. I would be happy to answer any questions that you may have.
Sincerely,
Mary Ann Pearson, Assistant Professor of Communications & Education
