Purpose

The Board of Visitors is an important support group for the University. The Board is a channel for the involvement and networking of distinguished citizens and leaders who provide assistance to the institution in the areas of planning, promoting and resource development. Members are selected business and community leaders who are interested in preparing students to make substantial contributions to our society as skilled professionals, thinking citizens, and educated people.

Selection

Prospective Board members are individuals who have a strong interest in preparing leaders for the 21st century in the fields of business, education, and the arts and sciences. Nomination forms are available for current members.

Involvement

Board members are invited to attend two annual lunch meetings. Board members are involved in providing long-range planning assistance and enhancing the institution's image through:

  • Offering expertise through ad-hoc committees
  • Referral of prospective students
  • Assistance to students in locating internships and employment
  • Development of financial resources
  • Identification of prospective donors
  • Personal financial support

Expectations

Board members are encouraged to participate actively in University activities and events. Each member, serving on a non-reimbursable basis, agrees to make a minimum gift of $1,000 annually which provides scholarship support for deserving students.
