Administrative Positions

Associate Dean of the School of Nursing
Primary responsibilities include classroom and practicum teaching, faculty development, serving as a liaison between nursing faculty and clinical agencies in securing appropriate clinical learning experiences for students, and working with the Dean of the School of Nursing in planning class schedules, fostering faculty scholarship, and promoting excellence in classroom and practicum teaching.  The Associate Dean participates in curriculum and program development and implementation, serves on the University Assessment Committee, and visits clinical sites with the school’s clinical coordinator to assess and evaluate the implementation of the curriculum and teaching/learning activities in accord with accreditation and state regulatory standards and requirements.  Candidates are expected to demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service activities that support the mission of the School of Nursing and the University.  Higher degree nursing administrative and significant university teaching experience desired.

Director of the Master of Science in Nursing Program
Primary responsibilities include working with the Dean of the School of Nursing in an entry-level master’s and standard MSN programs.  Administrative responsibilities will include oversight of part-time faculty recruitment and development, student issues, curriculum planning and development, and the preparation of accreditation reports, and classroom and practicum teaching.  Candidates are expected to demonstrate and exercise a commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship, research and service activities that support the missions of the School of Nursing and the University.  Significant teaching experience in an accredited higher degree nursing program preferred.

Part-Time Positions

Adjunct ESL Instructor
Desired qualifications would include a Master’s in TESOL, English, Education, Second Language, Linguistics, or other related field with a minimum one year experience of teaching ESL/EFL, preferably on a college/university campus. Foreign language course work or multi-cultural experience is also preferred. Responsibilities are to teach Intensive English Language classes in grammar, reading, writing, speaking, and/or listening skills. The successful candidate will demonstrate a sincere interest in working with and responding to the needs of an international population.

Adjunct Professor – e-Commerce
The School of Business seeks a part-time faculty member who would enjoy teaching e-Commerce at a high level of excellence. The course will be offered to students completing bachelor’s degrees in the School of Business. Teaching responsibility would involve one evening each week and/or online. Candidates with e-Commerce and teaching experience preferred; the successful candidate will possess a master’s degree.

Adjunct Professor - Physical Science
Teaching responsibilities would include mostly lower division courses and labs in the physical sciences for both majors and non-majors. The successful candidate will possess at least a master's degree with a strong background in at least one of the following fields: general chemistry, organic chemistry, physical chemistry, physical science, geosciences, or general physics.

Adjunct Professor - Quantitative Methods
Primary responsibilities include teaching degree completion courses in quantitative modeling, statistics, operations management, and logistics. Secondary responsibilities may include teaching in additional business disciplines. The successful candidate will possess a minimum of a Master’s degree in a business-related discipline provided the candidate has completed substantial graduate studies and/or business experience in quantitative methods. In addition to demonstrated teaching excellence, the ideal candidate will have business / industry / government experience supporting the practical / professional focus that is a strength of the School of Business.

Business – Entrepreneurship
The School of Business seeks a high-initiative faculty member in entrepreneurship who would enjoy teaching aspiring entrepreneurs the knowledge and real-world problem-solving skills required for successful startup and early-stage enterprises.  The successful candidate will join an entrepreneurially-oriented faculty, will teach courses at both the undergraduate and MBA levels, and will help develop and offer academic and co-curricular activities for a planned undergraduate program in entrepreneurship.  Candidates should have strong potential as scholars and evidence personal success as entrepreneurs.

Engineering – Civil
The successful candidate will be responsible for helping to lead and develop a civil engineering program in preparation for initial ABET accreditation, which will be sought following the first graduating class of the program in spring 2011.  This individual will have a good command of English, will be committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching in both lecture and laboratory environments, and have a passion for teaching and working with students.  Additionally, interest in leading teams of students in cross-cultural settings, joining a team developing innovative curriculum and laboratories, and working with industry partners is preferred.

Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer
The Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer position is a two-year position beginning August 1, 2010, to work primarily under the guidance and supervision of the Clinical Director in the Entry-Level Master of Science in Athletic Training Program. The Graduate Assistant will assist in the supervision and education of the Athletic Training Students both in the classroom and in the CBU Athletic Training Room. They will also assist in the coverage of athletic practices and competition under the direction of the Head Athletic Trainer. Intercultural Studies
Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses and mentoring students in the direction of the global use of marketable giftedness for missiological purposes.  All faculty in the School of Christian Ministries must be active in a Southern Baptist church and affirm The Baptist Faith and Message (2000).  The successful candidate will have significant intercultural experience.  Teaching experience at the college or university level preferred.

Psychology – Cognition and Counseling
Teaching responsibilities include general psychology, cognitive psychology and counseling psychology across undergraduate and graduate degree curricula.  Graduate/Undergraduate course split will be dependent on background and experience.  University teaching experience and demonstrated potential for scholarly publication desired.  The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the integration of psychology and religion in his or her teaching.
