Duncan received his MFA from Cal State Long Beach in 1987. Since 1989, Duncan has been producing an ongoing series of narrative paintings based on the story of Abraham and Ishmael in the Book of Genesis. His latest “Ishmael” series has the one-legged black mannequin as the centerpiece in Civil War battle scenes that are culled from The Golden Book of the Civil War.
