About Us
Welcome to the Dr. Bonnie G. Metcalf School of Education
Our mission is to prepare professionals of high moral character and ethical behavior to serve throughout the world. Our programs are designed to equip individuals with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions of leadership required for professional excellence as teachers, school counselors and school psychologists, early childhood specialists and administrators. Our programs prepare candidates to excel in their career and calling by providing a purposeful balance between theory, research and practice.
Metcalf School of Education programs enjoy a stellar reputation in the area, such that our candidates are at the top of the recruiting efforts at several of the surrounding school districts. Our faculty team is comprised of dedicated and competent professionals who develop mentoring relationships with their students and highlight relevant Christian principles and truths to support and reinforce the learning. Our student support team is equally dedicated to candidates’ success and provides individual support and encouragement from the moment students inquire about the programs to the point of exiting with their credentials and/or graduate degree.
The Metcalf School of Education is dedicated to equipping leaders for educational and non-educational environments and teachers for school and non-school settings. As a result, we have launched two new leadership programs. The Leadership and Adult Learning program is ideal for people pursuing careers that involve training adults in the corporate, government, and non-profit arenas. The Leadership and Organizational Studies program is designed to equip individuals with critical perspectives and skills to assume formal and informal leadership roles in their profession and community.
To showcase the benefits of these two programs, we invite you to our next leadership workshop seminar titled "The Power of Authentic Leadership: The What and How" on February 4, 2013. This workshop will help you develop leadership through a detailed overview of the leadership genre and essential perspectives, skills, and practices for exemplary leadership. To get a feel for the learning experience and benefits you will gain from a seminar like this, you can watch our previous seminar "LQ: Leadership Quotient" on our Facebook page [facebook.com/soe.cbu]. We hope you can make it!
