Forever Plaid continues CBU run this weekend

(RIVERSIDE-Oct. 18, 2012)Forever Plaid, California Baptist University’s first theatre production of the season, continues this weekend, Oct. 19 and 20.

Based on the book by Stuart Ross, the play recounts the story of a group of four guys who began singing together in high school, with the hope of one day becoming famous. They adopt the name Forever Plaid to connect traditional values of family, home and harmony. On their way to their first big gig, the group’s automobile is hit broadside by a school bus, and members of Forever Plaid are killed instantly. However, through the miracle of “astro-technical stuff,” they are allowed to perform the show they never got to do in life.

“We open our season with a light-hearted comedy that showcases our talented male singers and actors,” said Lee Lyons, professor of theatre. “The actors are challenged by tight harmonies and intricate choreography, both of which must be executed with the highest precision.”

Forever Plaid will be presented on Friday, Oct. 19, at 8 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 20 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. General admission tickets are $15; discounted tickets are $12 for the Saturday matinee, senior citizens, CBU students, faculty, staff and alumni. For more information, call 951.343.4319.
