1. Is there any prior connection between the target person or institution to be approached and the academic institution?
YES - Go to Question 1a
NO - During initial contact, explain the mission and vision of the academic institution to the Potential Donor (PD) to confirm compatible interests in same.
If agreement or compatible interest exists, Go to Question 2.
If no compatible interest or agreement exists, initial contact with PD should end. Re-enter flowchart with another PD.
