Honor Cords and Graduation Stoles
Distribution of Cords
Bachelor's Degree candidates may be eligible to wear one of the following cords during Commencement. Distribution will take place upon arrival at the Arena at 5:45pm on December 11, 2014.
Cords become the property of the student.
Honor's Cords (Gold Cord)
Graduation honors are announced at the December Commencement Ceremony for all qualified Bachelor's Degrees. Honors are determined by a student's cumulative grade point average at the completion of the Fall 2014 semester. Honors announced at the ceremony are conditional upon completion of all requirements in accordance with University policies.
Honors are awarded according to the following grade point average:
- Cum Laude, 3.50
- Magna Cum Laude, 3.70
- Summa Cum Laude, 3.90
Alpha Chi (Blue Cord)
Membership is based on academic achievement and outstanding character traits. Juniors and Seniors whose overall grade point average places them in the upper ten percent (10%) of their class are eligible for consideration. Kappa Mu Epsilon (Silver Cord)
This Natural and Mathematical Sciences Department honor society recognizes outstanding achievement in the study of mathematics at the undergraduate level. Membership is open to students who have completed at least three (3) college mathematics courses (including at least one  semester of calculus) with an overall average of 3.00 or better. Members must be at least second-semester sophomore and rank in the top thirty-five percent (35%) of their class. Distribution of Great Commission Stoles
All students who have participated in a CBU International Service Project are eligible to wear a Great Commission Stole. Stoles are distributed upon check-in at the Arena at 5:45 pm on December 11 and must be returned immediately following the Commencement Ceremony. Students may purchase the stoles for $50 at the time of distribution.
