- MUST BE 18 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER TO ENTER. Participation constitutes entrant's full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these Official Rules.
- California Baptist University Film Competition “OTHER” is sponsored by the Associated Students of California Baptist University (ASCBU), CBU College of Arts and Sciences, and is produced in cooperation with CBU’s Marketing and Communication Division.
(1) Eligibility:
Competition is offered only to students of California Baptist University that are 18 years of age or older as of the date of entry. In addition, participants (Director and any subjects in the film) are required to submit a signed CBU photo release form signifying their agreement to appear in the film, and agree to CBU’s right to use the film for marketing and other purposes.
(2) How to Enter:
- Submit entry material by deadline to the Marketing and Communication Division or online at www.calbaptist.edu/cbufilms.
- Entries may be any form of moving or still image, including but not limited to, video, animation and text.
- Duration of entry cannot exceed five (5) minutes. Films three minutes in length will compete in the three-minute category; films three to five minutes will compete in the five-minute category.
- Individuals may enter more than once, but are eligible to win only once.
- Entrant must have permission via license to use all incorporated portions authored or owned by third parties.
- Rights to use incorporated material may not be purchased.
- Use of images and works in the public domain may be incorporated into entries. However, materials that infringe on the rights of any third party may not be used.
- ASCBU is not responsible for late, lost, delayed, damaged, misdirected, incomplete, illegible, or unintelligible entries. Incomplete or illegible entries are not eligible.
- Rights of use and reproduction are granted to California Baptist University upon entry and submitted material may be used for CBU marketing and promotional purposes.
(3.) Winners:
Submitted films will be viewed and judged by a panel of judges (select faculty, CBU Marketing and Communication Division representatives, CBU College of Arts and Sciences representatives, and at least one ASCBU student representative) who will choose the winner based upon the quality and artistry of the film. Judging criteria will include: editing, video quality, and audio quality, excellence in communicating the theme of the competition, artistic interpretation, and overall excellence. Winning films will be announced at a film screening and reception Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at 6 p.m. in the Copenbarger Dining Room. Prizes will be awarded to first, second and third place winners. All scoring decisions are final. CBU reserves the right to disqualify any entry which is deemed inappropriate, offensive or demeaning to the University’s reputation or goodwill. Acceptance of a prize constitutes permission (except where prohibited by law) to use winner’s name, hometown and/or likeness, and competition entry for promotional purposes without further compensation.
(4.) General Terms and Conditions:
By participating, entrants agree that CBU, ASCBU, agents and representatives, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising, promotion and fulfillment agencies, and legal advisors are not responsible or liable for, and shall be released and held harmless from: (i) telephone, electronic, hardware or software program, network, Internet, or computer malfunctions, failures, or difficulties of any kind (ii) any condition caused by events beyond the control of CBU or ASCBU that may cause the competition to be disrupted or corrupted; (iii) any printing or typographical errors in any materials associated with the contest (iv) any all losses, damages, rights, claims and actions of any kind in connection with or resulting from participation in the contest, acceptance, possession, or use of any prize, including without limitation, personal injury, death, and property damage, and claims based on publicity rights, defamation, or invasion. CBU and ASCBU reserve the right, in the university’s sole discretion, to suspend or cancel competition at any time if a computer virus, bug, or other technical problem corrupts the administration, security, or proper conduct of the competition.
Winning films may also be rewarded with recognition and featured appearance on the official California Baptist University Web site www.calbaptist.edu.
