Dear Alumni & Parents…
Last fall, an alumnus and his wife came to the Alumni office. We had a marvelous time looking through old yearbooks and reminiscing. At one point he said his wife crashed their car when they were living in married housing. When I asked if she was injured she replied, “I was fine but the horse didn’t make it”. Immediately the hair stood straight up on my arms. I asked if the accident was on Van Buren and when she said “yes” I told her I had been praying for her for 35 years. I witnessed that horrific accident in 1989 and from then on whenever I drove down Van Buren I wondered about the driver and prayed for her. Needless to say, we had a good cry and a long hug. I will continue to pray every time I drive down Van Buren, but now I pray for my new friend Patsy.
Who have you been thinking of and praying for? I encourage you to reach out to that person and let them know you still care. It does the heart good to encourage someone. And who knows?! Maybe you will re-connect with a classmate, look through old yearbooks and reminisce.
