Department of Aviation Science

Welcome to the Department of Aviation Science

As the founding chair of the Department of Aviation Science at CBU, I would like to thank you for visiting with us to learn more about our offerings in Aviation Science. In Fall 2013, we welcomed our inaugural class of 25 students choosing to major in either Aviation Flight or Aviation Management. We now have almost 60 students in Aviation Science and you too can join these students to become part of a fast-growing, nationally competitive collegiate aviation program right here in Southern California.  The weather is great and our flight training costs are very competitive.

You may decide to pursue flight, just as the Wright Brothers did back in 1903. You may decide to pursue aviation management, and become an airport manager, a Safety and Security Manager, or an Aviation Consultant. You may choose to pursue dispatch, and play an integral role with the flight crew in maintaining safety of flight. Whether you choose to fly, manage some aspect of the aviation industry, or become an airline dispatcher, you can pursue your passion for aviation and live your purpose right here at CBU. With extensive aviation industry relationships, including pilot pathway agreements with ExpressJet, SkyWest, and United Express, we excel at educating you to the highest potential and giving you the tools and opportunities you need to succeed in the fast-paced and very rewarding aviation industry.

We currently have 11 training aircraft, which includes Cessna 152, Cessna 172, and Beechcraft Duchess aircraft; a Boeing 727; and a 9,000 sq ft Flight Operations Center with a classroom, flight planning room, flight simulator, full kitchen, and student lounge.  We also operate the CBU Flight School, which makes flight training available to anyone who has an interest in learning how to fly at university-level standards. Our faculty, staff, and flight instructors are committed Christians and take time to invest in you personally and professionally. You will indeed experience a unique learning environment with us.

I encourage you to spend some time learning more about us and our programs. We welcome you to visit with us at our Flight Operations Center located at the Riverside Municipal Airport.  Please contact me with any questions. I look forward to welcoming you as an Aviation Science major at CBU!
