Q- When can I apply to the School of Nursing?
A- The BSN program offers two start dates a year, Fall and Spring.
Applications for the BSN program scheduled to start in fall are
available in January and due mid- March. Applications for the spring
semester are available in June and due at the end of August. Exact
dates will be posted each application period. (NOTE: The School of
Nursing has a separate application from the University application)
Applications for Fall 2012 will be available on January 4, 2012 on the Nursing homepage. You may apply if you have completed prerequisites or if they are in progress and they will be completed by May 1, 2012,
you have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7 at the end of the fall 2011
semester, an official passing TEAS test score on file with the School of Nursing and have been accepted by the
university as a pre-nursing student. DEADLINE IS 4PM March 9, 2012.

Q - What score do I need on the TEAS test to be eligible to apply to the School of Nursing?
A - In order to be eligible to apply to the School of Nursing,
you must be at or above the BSN program mean posted during your test.
Q - What is the program mean?
A - For the Fall 2012 BSN application period the score is 70.6% for version 5 however it changes frequently. The score needed for the spring 13 BSN program will be available during the application period.
Q- Which version will I take?
A- We administer version 5 and will only accept version 5.
Q - Is there a study guide available for the TEAS test?
A - You can purchase one online at http://www.atitesting.com/.
Q - How many times can I take the TEAS test?
A - CBU allows a maximum of three attempts. We recommend that you do not retake the TEAS test for a higher score if you pass it your first attempt.If an applicant does not pass the TEAS test on
the third attempt, the applicant is no longer eligible to re-take the
TEAS test or apply to CBU School of Nursing.
CBU has a mandatory 14 day remediation period
between TEAS tests. Your TEAS score will not be accepted if the testing
dates are less than 14 days apart.
Q- Does my TEAS test expire?
A- TEAS test results are valid for one year only.
Q- How do I sign up for the TEAS test?
A- Sign-ups begin on January 10, 2012 and are ongoing through February. Please signup in person only at the Lambeth House from 9am-12pm and 2pm-4pm.
Q - Is there a cost for the TEAS test?
A - The TEAS test costs $45. Pre-payment is required. EXACT CASH only
Q- When do I take the TEAS test?
A- The TEAS test is only offered during School of
Nursing application periods for students accepted to CBU as a
pre-nursing student.Sign ups for the TEAS test are in person only at the
Lambeth House. You may sign up when it is offered if you currently have
a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7, and have or will complete all
prerequisites by the stated deadline with a grade of C or better.

Q- How do I know if I am a competitive applicant for the BSN program?
A- We have more applicants for the BSN program than we have spaces available and we are very selective.We consider students with completed units from CBU prior to enrolled CBU students and then we will consider transfer students. The averages of the students accepted to the program this year are as follows:

Q- What if I am a transfer student and I have completed all of my prerequisites?
A- There may still be general education requirements you may take at CBU or you may consider one the many minors offered, including Health Science .
Q- I took my prerequisites at a community college, will they transfer?
CBU has articulation agreements with most community colleges. Click here for a list of these colleges, as well as community college courses and units that are transferable.
Q- Is this program accredited?
A- The California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) has approved the program. CBU is regionally accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). Our Baccalaureate program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
Q-What is your NCLEX pass rate?
A- Our current NCLEX pass rate can be found on the Board of Registered Nursing website
Q- How long is the nursing program?
A- Our program may be completed in 4, 4 1/2 or 5 years depending on how long a student takes to complete prerequisites. Once all prerequisites are met, the nursing program is six semesters for a total of three years. Nursing classes are in session September through April.
Q- How much does the program cost?
A- Please refer to the "Tuition and Fees" page http://www.calbaptist.edu/admissions/financial-aid/undergraduate/tuition-and-fees/default.aspx There is an additional $1300/semester Nursing program fee. Additional out of pocket expenses will be required to maintain clinical clearance. This amount does not include room, board or textbooks.
Q- Does it matter how long ago I took the prerequisite courses?
A- No, there is no time limit: however you may want to take a refresher course if you believe you need to strengthen your knowledge in a particular subject.
Q-Do you have an accelerated program?
A- We do not have an accelerated Baccalaureate program at this time.
Q- Do you have a part-time program?
A- No, our program is designed as a full-time daytime program.
Q- Are tours available?
A- We have an online virtual tour of the School of Nursing. It can be viewed at http://www.calbaptist.edu/academics/school-of-nursing/default.aspx. To protect the privacy of our students and their learning environment we do not give tours during class or clinical time.
