The B.A. in Liberal Studies (LBS) program at California Baptist University provides students an excellent preparation for a wide variety of careers, especially those who desire to serve in the elementary classroom. In some similar programs at other schools large class sizes, limited access to professors and prolonged degree completion times are typical. By contrast, CBU Liberal Studies students enjoy:
Together, these unique features ensure a highly effective, enjoyable and purposeful learning experience. For individuals with interests outside the classroom, the CBU Liberal Studies program offers a wide range of concentrations to enable students to prepare for a wide variety of careers paths.
The faculty at CBU builds relationships with students and serves as mentors, lending guidance based on their own first-hand experiences. Liberal Studies graduates benefit from both the program’s fine reputation among school districts and a high placement rate into teaching positions. In many cases, the relationships professors and students develop continue after graduation ensuring graduates successfully transition from the role of the student to the role of a teacher.
LBS students cover a broad range of subjects in the course of fulfilling the programs general requirements. As they progress through the program, students select a single subject aligned with their unique career goals as a concentration. In addition, they may pursue many desirable double majors, such as Spanish or Music, to create additional career options.
LBS students customize their educational experience by adding one of the following concentrations to their general requirements coursework.
All Liberal Studies students must meet with the Elementary Subject Matter Program Director in the Dr. Bonnie G. Metcalf School of Education.
