Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Program Student Outcomes

PSO #1
Upon completion of the B.S. Degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, students will demonstrate competency in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at levels comparable to national standards for these disciplines.

Students will be able to critically analyze and discuss scientific journal articles.

PSO #3
Students will be able to critically analyze and discuss selected contemporary and/or controversial issues in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and related disciplines, enabling them to be informed citizens and participants in the public debate and discourse involving these issues.

PSO #4
Students will demonstrate proficiency in accurately conveying scientific data both orally and in writing.

PSO #5
Upon completion of each year of chemistry coursework (General, Organic, and Biochemistry), students will attain knowledge comparable to national standards in these areas of chemistry.

PSO #6
Students will apply their knowledge of biology and chemistry through an in-depth research project related to Biochemistry or Molecular Biology.

PSO #7
Students will be able to apply appropriate technology (including molecular modeling and bioinformatics) and mathematical tools to their studies of biochemical and molecular biology systems.

Students will be able to apply instrumental and other laboratory techniques to laboratory -based problems.
