English Undergraduate Program Student Outcomes

  1. Graduating English majors will be able to show strong evidence that they have acquired an ability to write  substantial research papers as well as short response essays at a quality level generally expected.
  2. Students completing the baccalaureate program in English will demonstrate that they compare favorably in their knowledge of literature, composition, and the English language with those students completing a similar program anywhere else regionally or nationally.
  3. Graduating seniors will be able to critique and edit a paper draft, pointing out compositional weaknesses, topical, grammatical, or mechanical.
  4. English graduates will demonstrate knowledge and experience of electronic word-processing, research, and communication specifically for language and literature studies.
  5. After graduating, students will be equipped for employment or for more advanced studies in pursuit of higher academic degrees.
